Lakeland Police Attempt to Identify Bank Robber

Lakeland Police are seeking the assistance of the public to identify this suspect that robbed the Mid Florida Federal Credit Union at 2105 New Tampa Hwy, in Lakeland, Florida, on November 20, 2008, at 2:25 PM. 

The Lakeland Police Department is requesting anyone who feels they may know the identify of this suspect to please notify Crime Stoppers at 1.800.226.TIPS, or Detective Tye Thompson of the Lakeland Police Department at 863.834.8955.

Lakeland Police Host First Gun Buy-Back Program

  On Saturday, December 13, 2008, the Lakeland Police Department will be conducting their first Gun Buy-Back event.  The Buy-Back event will be held from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, at Northwest Park, 108 West 3rd Street.  This location is across North Florida Avenue from Henley Field and Bryant Stadium.

A $50.00 gift card will be given for each firearm turned in while supplies last.  The gift cards will be handed out on a first come, first served basis.  Private donations, as well as money seized as the result of criminal activity, is being used to fund this event.  Click Here to See Map.pdf

Lakeland Police Arrest for Manslaughter that Occurred on October 5, 2008

Lakeland Police have arrested James Christopher Repetosky (DOB: 10/14/76) on a manslaughter charge for an incident that occurred on October 5, 2008. The victim, William Allen King (DOB: 6/1/51) was struck by a vehicle as he lay unconscious in the roadway in the 3200 block of South Florida Avenue at approximately 12:12 AM. The investigation indicated that King was "yelling" at persons standing outside the Wild Cat Tattoo Shop on South Florida Avenue. Repetosky took offense to the statements and ran across the street and attacked the victim as he attempted to flee. The victim sustained injuries during the attack that left him unconscious. The defendant fled the scene and left the victim in the roadway where he was struck by a passing vehicle.
