MEDIA RELEASE - New Charges Filed Newberry Case

The Lakeland Police Department announced today additional charges have been filed on Shawn Newberry, W/M, DOB 01/16/1989. These charges, 26 counts of Possession of Child Pornography, are the result of images recovered from a computer seized during the execution of a search warrant at Newberry's residence on October 10, 2007.

The images were recovered by the Lakeland Police Department's Cyber Crimes Unit during a forensic examination of Newberry's computer. Newberry remains in the Polk County Jail.

The Department also released still photographs of images that were recovered from a computer seized during the search warrant operation. These photographs appear to have been taken at the University of South Florida/Polk Community College campus. The photographs are of hallways and other exterior views of the campus. The photos are available in the attached media release.
